Most of the photos on my blog are my own work, others are from the amazing photographers I’ve come across through Flickr, where I have learned so much and rekindled my passion for photography.
I mainly use a Hasselblad 500 C/M. Though I have a digital camera, if I want to go automatic I normally use my Pentax *ist 35mm SLR. I do have a compact digital camera which I take everywhere I go, but the more I learn about digital, the more I appreciate the magic of film.
The sense of anticipation is one of the things that I love about film – of not knowing how it’s going to turn out until the film is developed.
It goes back to when I was 3 or 4 years old and my dad let me in to his darkroom, and I saw the photos he’d taken, developing in the tray.
But the real magic isn’t in the chemicals, or the film, not even in the camera. It’s all in the photographer’s eye.
